Hello all,

First off all, sorry if this is the wrong list or channel to ask for beginner help regarding Apache Traffic Server.
If so , can anyone point me to a noob list.

I just started with ATS, and I can not get it working, I have a few questions and I hope I can ask them here.

The first is which processes must be running?

If i start ATS (ATS 7.0.0 on FreeBSD 11.1-prerelaese) i see the following.

May 29 21:34:59 desk traffic_cop[51182]: --- Cop Starting [Version: Apache Traffic Server - traffic_cop - 7.0.0 - (build # 052920 on May 29 2017 at 20:37:57)] ---
May 29 21:34:59 desk traffic_cop[51182]: traffic_manager not running, making sure traffic_server is dead
May 29 21:34:59 desk traffic_cop[51182]: spawning traffic_manager
May 29 21:34:59 desk traffic_manager[51183]: NOTE: --- Manager Starting ---
May 29 21:34:59 desk traffic_manager[51183]: NOTE: Manager Version: Apache Traffic Server - traffic_manager - 7.0.0 - (build # 052920 on May 29 2017 at 20:38:03)
May 29 21:34:59 desk traffic_manager[51183]: NOTE: RLIMIT_NOFILE(8):cur(209498),max(209498)
May 29 21:35:00 desk kernel: pid 51186 (traffic_server), uid 80: exited on signal 11

The last line worries me, however i can connect to localhost port 8080 with telnet, so it looks like it runs.

With ps aux | grep traffic i see the following processes.
www           51229   0.4  0.1   69756   10140  -  S    21:53      0:00.02 /usr/local/bin/traffic_manager --bind_stdout /var/log/trafficserver/traffic.out --bind_stderr /var/log/trafficse
root          51227   0.0  0.0   10460    2152  -  Ss   21:53      0:00.00 daemon: /usr/local/bin/traffic_cop[51228] (daemon)
root          51228   0.0  0.1   56280    7000  -  Ss   21:53      0:00.01 /usr/local/bin/traffic_cop

In the file /var/log/trafficserver/manager.log I see the following after a start

[May 29 21:53:53.048] Manager {0x803c16000} STATUS: opened /var/log/trafficserver/manager.log

[May 29 21:54:32.094] Manager {0x803c16000} NOTE: Relaunching proxy after 32 sec...

Is this OK, or is it really not running and is it trying to start it over and over again.

I have a simple remap.config file

map http://localhost:8080 http://localhost
reverse_map http://localhost http://localhost:8080

If i connect with curl it hangs so to speak.

root@ats_test:/usr/local/etc/trafficserver # curl -I localhost:8080

And no prompt back

Thank you for your time
regards
Johan
